PROPRIETORS

The past few years have been very exciting for us. As "high school sweethearts" who have been married since 1977, we have enjoyed countless memorable meals and exceptional wines with family and friends. We are long-time wine lovers and have a special fondness for the white wines of the Graves and Pessac-Leognan regions of France. Several years ago we visited the Napa Valley for our anniversary and learned we could make our own wine! We shared a mutual interest in food and wine and began collecting wine over the years in our 30+ years of marriage. We decided to give it a try by purchasing grapes and produced two vintages in 2004 and 2005 for ourselves and our friends -- we loved it! One thing led to another. We now produce four white wines and two red wines. The terroir in our Calistoga vineyard is exceptional and produces wonderful fruit. Our original Sauvignon Blanc parcel is dry farmed and although the old vines are difficult and expensive to maintain, the resulting wines are uniquely delicious. A second parcel purchased in 2008 provided us another valley floor vineyard and the opportunity to make red wine as well. The Petite Sirah, Merlot and Tempranillo grown there produce excellent wines reflecting the minerality and complexity one would expect from vines that bask in hot afternoon sun and cooler nights and grow in the rich cobbly Calistoga soil. Each wine is handmade in small batches in an old world boutique style.

In keeping with our goal, we use the archaic French spelling of our family name, Coquerel, and are proud to put our name on each bottle. We believe each wine represents another step toward the realization of our dream.
