2015 Le Petit Coquerel Sauvignon Blanc
2015 was another challenging growing season; the vineyard was beset with a low rainfall for the fourth year in the row with a majority of the precipitation occurring in December 2014 and February 2015. The bud break of the vines was early but the canopy growth was slow due to the drought. A small crop size allowed the fruit to mature quickly and we harvested during the earlymorning of August 18th.
Most of the fruit for our 2015 Le Petit Sauvignon Blanc came from our estate Walnut Wash Vineyard in Calistoga. Once in the winery the clusters were de-stemmed and gently pressed to avoid any bitterness. The juice was fermented in stainless steel barrels and aged sur lie with frequent stirring to increase body and texture. Bottling took place in May 2016.
Our 2015 Le Petit Sauvignon Blanc is pure, fresh and delicious. The nose is expressive and powerful with traces of guava, grapefruit. The palate is crisp with a round mid-palate and a long finish of exotic fruit. This wine will pair well with fresh seafood, Asian foods and lighter fare.
