2009 La Douce Revanche has a nose of peach, pear, apricot and honey flavors. The wine has a round mid-palate and ends with a smooth almond-like finish. La Douce Revanche can be enjoyed on its own or is the perfect accompaniment to foie gras.
The juice underwent winemaking procedures, similar to that of a dry white wine. It was then fermented in French oak barrels. When the residual sugar reached 40g/l, the wine was cooled to stop fermentation and then aged sur lie for seven months with weekly stirrings.
The 2009 growing season was not as challenging as the previous year. The season was mild with only one major heat spike. We received such enthusiastic response from our 2008 La Douce Revanche or "Sweet Revenge" that we decided to make it each year although we did not experience the crippling freeze of 2008. At harvest, we left five rows of fruit for harvest later in October. This dehydrated fruit was used for making this delicious late harvest Sauvignon Blanc. There was no botrytis present in the vineyard at this late harvest.
